🤖 AI Summary

📝 Summary:

ChrisB#1 reports that their Kia Seltos steering wheel star button—configured to disable the speed limit warning—resets whenever the car is off for >5 minutes, persisting after a soft reset, dealership service, and manual hold attempts. Steve#2 confirms this is a software update issue, revealing Kia relocated the toggle function to the OK button press-and-hold instead, making star button settings volatile. Steve also notes new bus lane camera alerts post-update and suggests reverting software or installing 2025 model firmware, which uses the MUTE button for disabling warnings.

TL;DR:
✅ Steering star button resets after software update#1#2.
✅ Fix relocated: hold steering OK button to disable warnings#2.
✅ 2025 model firmware uses MUTE button and resolves issue#2.

🔎 Key Insights:
Software update caused feature relocation and reset bug, not hardware#2.
Dealer resets fail; firmware downgrade or 2025 update may solve it#2.

🎯 Conclusion:
The star button reset is a software flaw requiring Kia intervention. Temporarily use the OK button; demand firmware fixes from dealers for a permanent solution.

Good day

I'm hoping someone can assist. I have recently bought brand new Kia Seltos. I set the shortcut button (star button on the steering wheel) to take me straight to pesky speed limit warning so I can disable the damn warning sounds. However, after the 3000km service the star button now resets every time I switch off the car and leave it for more than approximately 5minutes. If I restart the car quickly it seems to "remember" the favourites setting.

I have:
1. Done a soft reset
2. Took it back to Kia Wangara and had to wait 1h30min for them to apparently do a software reset/reinstall
3. Held in the star button - found that advise online

None of these have fixed the issue.

Anyone else experiencing this issue on Seltos or other models? Any fixes, please?

Many thanks
Chris

Hi from NZ. Been in your situation too recently. After a software update, the button config dropped the setting.
I used the star button to go straight to the cursed speed limit beeper. Anyhow, the new software was responsible, as to now go to where you can turn off the speed beeps, you now need to push and hold the OK button on rt side of steering wheel.
The Korean logic behind this change belies belief. Kia decided as they secretly moved the feature to the ok button, setting the feature on a star button dropped when you restarted. Figure that out !!!!
Now i also have an added iritation from the update ... a main rd nearby has 9 bus lane cameras in each direction, and the nav announces every single one in the 2 km stretch. I've got the dealer onto it to get it sorted, load the orig software or load the 2025 software as I tested 25 seltos with no prob. Also the 25 model only needs you to hold down the MUTE button to stop the beep only.
Get in touch if you need the bad software versions.
Hope this helps, cheers Steve
